Hear ye.....Hear ye......
Several months ago I posted about the rock-n-roll 1/2 marathon I was going to run in June. WAS being the operative word. Due to a scheduling conflict I am no longer able to run on that weekend. How convienient, eh???? I thought about bagging the whole idea BUT then I remembered how this time last year I could barely run 1/4 mile without stopping and NOW i can run 5 miles maybe 6 on a good day. SO.......the 1/2 marathon I will be running is on May 16th, in Boise, Idaho. My stomach is sick just thinking about it BUT I announced my goal to cyberspace. It's out there-so now i'm committed.

Happy Birthday, Birthday Girl.
Quincy turned 5, March 23. I can't believe it! She is growing up so fast. For several months, she has been awaiting this monumental birthday for two reasons. #1. She gets to go to school in the fall. #2. She is officially OLDER than her BFF, Bella ( i guess this gives her some kind of advantage-not for long. when she turns 40 first she might not be bragging).
I took a picture of her as soon as she woke up so she could determine if she looked older. The verdict......why- yes of course.
Our friends, the Durhams, came over to help us celebrate on Monday night.
At the last minute (because that's how I roll) we invited Bella and Anna to Boondocks for an impromptu party. I don't know why I am so unorganized when it comes to my kids birthday's. The girls had a blast at boondocks. Bella gave Quincy a picnic basket with all the fixins and the girls hosted themselves a grand picnic right in the middle of the play area. Good thing we were the only ones there. Others parents might have tried to enforce the "no food in play area" rule and kaboshed the fun.
Quincy's b-day just happens to fall on the same day as Katie's, Bella's sister. Of course Selina, being ultra organized, had a fantastic, memorable party planned for Katie and 8 of her closest friends, at build a bear. Katie was kind enough to let us tag along as an unofficial party guest. Your can't tell from the picture but Quincy had a great time and loves the unicorn she built. True to character, I forgot my camera, and had to rely on Selina for a picture.
5 interesting facts about Quincy are:
1. Her favorite color is purple- at least for today.
2. She loves to drink milk straight for the jug- a trait learned from her father.
3. She is a pack rat- she saves everything- and I mean everything. You know the containers that apples come in at costco? 3 of them under her bed this very minute.
4. She loves wearing pajamas- in fact if i let her, and i sometimes do, she will wear pj's all day, regardless if we are out in public or not. The employees at the gym actually comment on her outfit if , on the rare occassion, she shows up dressed in clothes. It's so funny.
5. Her favorite animal is a unicorn
5 things I love about Quincy are:
1. I love her smile- it's infectious and lights up a room.
2. I love her ability to express her feelings in words.
3. I love her ambition to try new things- she is always willing to try something new.
4. I love her desire to be a sister. She adores Reece and loves to be with him, when he is willing to tolerate her. She also enjoys teaching, helping and playing with Trey, when she is in the mood to tolerate him.
5. I love her ability to be honest. Even at 5, she will tell you what she really thinks-i guess she get's that one from me. I think it's so refreshing and I appreciate not having to guess at what she is thinking.

Pillow Talk
WHY WHY WHY???? Quincy has all day to converse with me. ALL DAY! Reece's talking time is limited due to school and Trey's conversational moments are limited, well because he's 2 BUT Quincy has ALL DAY. when is her favorite time to have heart to hearts? BEDTIME. OF COURSE. Tonight's conversation is blog/journal worthy. In about 20+ years I will be sharing this story at her baby shower.
Quincy: Mom when will I be a mommy?
Me: When your 25, married in the temple and graduated from college
Quincy: I dont' want to be a mommy.
Me (silently): Oh I've ruined her. I'm such a horrible mother she doesn't even want to follow in my footsteps.
Me (outloud): Why not?
Quincy: Because I don't want to get any shots from the doctor
Side note- two months ago she got her kindergarten shots- 5 total. She wasn't prepared for them and the pain really traumatized her.
Quincy: How many shots will I get to have a baby?
Me: You don't have to get any shots but if you want it only takes one shot (epidural) to help you have the baby.
Side note- I am beginning to panic- how much information should I give her- she is only 4, almost 5. Why is she asking all these questions and why is she so worried about it.
Quincy: Well I don't need a baby because we already have a baby- Trey.
Me: Trey is my baby and he's not really a baby anymore. You might want your own baby someday.
Quincy: I want Trey to be my baby!
Me: Fine Trey is your baby.
Quincy: I don't want to be a mom because I don't want to drive, plus I hate babies because they slobber on their hands and then they touch me and get me all slobbery. I just wishes came true.
Me: Why what do you wish for?
Quincy: I just wish I could be a catepillar or a butterfly.
Side note: I'm not sure what just happened here but I do know her and I will both get a laugh out of it someday MAYBE at her baby shower.
